Dear Carl and Betty...

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us yesterday at Veridian's Safety Celebration.

Carl you held our audience captive with your story and your motivational words and advice were so inspiring. Our line staff work with danger every day and hearing from you how a minute of distraction can have such an impact on your life and the lives of your loved ones sure brought home the message of being alert and safe.

Thank you for sharing with us. Your songs were great, especially "Beyond the Open Door" - it said it all.

Sincerely,
Diana

Thank you, Diana. The reception I received from your company was touching and inspiring. Best wishes to all of you, Carl

Hey Carl,

It's great to hear your doing well since the accident. I dont post much on sites like this but I just want to give my two cents on my encounter with meeting you.. It was on the Friction tour in a small club in Long Beach CA. There must of been 20 people in the place but you guys came out and just kicked ass! After the show I stood on stage talking to you getting an autograph and you were just a great down and out person. Your music has been a big part of my youth and continues to this day. By the way Friction should of been a monster album.. Take care and rock on!
Thanks Dennis. That album sort of fell through the cracks of tastes and trends at the time, sort of like Coney Hatch did. We had some fun, learned a lot and met cool people like you! C.D.

Hi Carl,
Glad to hear your trip to OZ accomplished what you set out to acheive. Meetings with your doctors, friends & and the support people involved in your rescue/recovery was a healing process for all. We are happy to hear your feeling much better and are able to get around on your own. We will be up your way in July (Bracebridge) for a concert(Zappacosta), and hope to see you in Aug at Casino Rama for Bad Company, knowing how you like Paul Rogers.
I wish we had known about the show you gave in Pickering in May, we would have been there for sure. Hope you have a busy summer touring, hopefully we will get to see you. Can't wait for the book and new music. All the best to Betty & the girls. Stay safe, happy & healthy my friend.

Carl,

My dad had a heart attack when I was 6 (he was 47), and he never went back to work. There was quite a bit of damage done to his heart; so much so that his doctors don't know how he's still surviving today at 75 with, essentially, half of a heart. (He has recently had a defibrillator implanted, though.)

Again, condolences from me on you and your family's significant loss. I will be looking forward to seeing some of his art in your gallery. Thank you for sharing those pictures posted on the homepage, too. They were beautiful.

And I see you added a Facebook button. Nice. Don't forget to practice and play around with it!

You're in my thoughts -

Renee, you continue to be a support. Luv, C.D.

Carl, You have my deepest sympathy & condolences on the loss of your father. I can tell he was an important man in your life by your latest post. I'm happy to read that you seem to be in a good place with this, keeping things in perspective. It's natural to grieve, but important to keep your head up and move on. I hope all your projects are keeping you busy and serving as distractions from this. Any dates of release yet on your new book and cd's? Take care my friend and know that your friends are thinking of you during this difficult time. Sincerely, Dan Hart

Thanks for your sensitive reading of my message Dan. I am who I am in large part because of my father's influence. As for the book and the albums, I'm working harded than ever to move them all toward a spring release. I do believe you will be pleased with the results. thx, C.D.

Hi Carl. Question for you! What is a prairie province? I never heard of that.

Also, sorry to ask, but do you still check your bandcdixon email?

Prairie provinces is the name given to Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, a geographical grouping that goes from the forests of Northwestern Ontario to the eastern edge of the Rockies.
They were covered in flat prairie grassland for many hundreds of miles, created by the scraping of retreating glaciers of the Ice Age. These lands were a fine grazing area for the buffalo, until European settlers came and ploughed up most of it for farmland. There's very little real "prairie" grass left today. C.D.

Ontario, when you're north of Toronto. T.O. is naked of snow right now but Haliburton's covered.

I know I said it already, but I want to say again that you and the family have my deepest, most sincere sympathies. Your show Tuesday was beautiful and meaningful and I really enjoyed some of the older songs, not to mention the ones where you'd collaborated with him. Diane forwarded me the obituary and it is obvious that the apple didn't fall far from the tree. He sounded like an amazing man, full of integrity and natural talent. And he painted, too? Would you might want to share some of his work in your gallery? I'd love to see.

Thinking of you...

As always Renee, thanks for your message. Your idea about posting my father's paintings in the gallery is something I've been mulling over for a while. It seems a difficult task to an unknowledgeable person like me, but I'm sure it can be done. Wish I'd done it a long time ago. Love, C.D.

Hi ya Carl!

Just wanted to say a Merry Christmas and an insanely good and wonderful 2010 to you and your excellent family!

Also thank you for being so kind and such a remarkable inspiration as this hippy with forearm crutches tries to make the CD I always wanted to..I loved being a singer in bands but I found that, having 4 other cats to work with, you don't always get to express yourself in the way that is inside your heart and soul..well now I CAN & I WILL!..the Soo misses you! Please come here and give us a show we need rock and roll the way it was meant to be played and to see one of our own that made it and continues to make it every time he does a show or releases a CD..if you need any help booking a room let me know I also handle that for a few acts!

Take it easy brother and please for the love of all things right and good continue sprading your message that everything and anything can be beaten..the world needs more heroes like you!

Donny

Donny, I am humbled and grateful for your message. It is incredible to hear that I have had that kind of effect on someone. Carry on with your adventure, brother. C.D.

Great update & pictures on the homepage Carl. Someone loves snow! I'd give anything for a blizzard, over a hurricane So happy to hear you're healing and moving forward from everything that happened. And thank you for mentioning Hanukkah. Made me smile.

Sorry to hear about your tap dancing Hopefully you can still ice skate and play hockey.

I was unable to hear your birthday show Tuesday night. Slow computer connection makes it choppy and it stops every few seconds. Maybe one day I'll find a job, get some money, and buy a laptop so I can listen to you each Tuesday. You hiring by any chance?

Take care Carl, and a very merry Christmas to the whole Dixon family! May 2010 be wonderful for you.

Thanks so much Lori. It's nice to have you staying in touch. Good luck with that job search. At the moment I already have all the elves I require. Love, C.D.

Dearest Carl,

First, a couple wow's are in order. Wow, that was a lot of snow in those email pictures! And, wow, you're looking good! I'm SO relieved to hear that the healing is speeding along. That's some of the best news that you could share. It IS time for you to get back to life, I agree! Chop, chop!

Speaking of getting back to life, I'm going to make a few phone calls and see if I can get any leads for you down here. I've also got a couple emails into B.E. to see if they work this far south and/or if any collaboration would be possible. If anything interesting turns up, I'll pass the information along somehow. You've got friends and family down here that are jonesing to see you, not to mention a new audience out there that needs to hear your motivational words and songs!

In case you're still collecting suggestions for a title for your next CD, I think "No Looking Back" would be quite a positive statement for your current position in life. It's definitely time to look forward, not backwards.

I hope you have a very happy and peaceful birthday with your family. Enjoy your drinks tonight. And, by the way, I can't believe that I have been missing these radio shows of yours. I caught the one last night and it just made my whole week. You can bet that I'll be glued to my computer on Tuesday nights from now on!

Happy Christmas and New Year to you!

P.S. My camera is all ready for that photo shoot!

Thanks Renee, for all those thoughts! The snow is fun, but if there was an opportunity to come and see you all in Florida I'd be right there. Glad you liked the Rock Garden, and thanks again for all your great photos over the years. Merry Christmas, m'dear.
